Almost everyone wants to know the answer to the question, "How to be attractive for the opposite gender?" Scientists claim that they are finally ready to reveal the truth. The discoveries can surprise people who think that men only check out women with pretty faces and slim figures. Bright Side gathered a list of 8 traits that men find attractive in women.

1. Figure

When a man sees a woman, he is subconsciously thinking whether he can have babies with her or not. That's why the male brain is searching for a woman with larger back and a smaller waist. The woman needs to look healthy and fertile. The studies have found the ideal proportion for a female body and a woman is better to have the waist-ratio of 7:10. Such a proportion tells a man that such back are great for childbirth!

2. Smile

That's an obvious attractive feature for men. A smile is something that can catch any male's attraction. This woman looks more open and ready to flirt. Is it really that simple? Of course not. Men also look at women's teeth. It doesn't mean that you need to have bright white teeth like actresses in Hollywood movies – just avoid things like bad breath and yellowish teeth. It is also connected to the fact that good-looking teeth are an indicator of good health and good genetics. We all remember that a man is looking for a mom for his future babies.

3. Facial symmetry

Facial symmetry is one of the most attractive physical traits. It is explained by the fact that our brains visually process symmetrical faces faster than a less symmetrical one. Surely, we all understand that it's not possible to find a 100% symmetrical face. But the fewer asymmetries you have, the more your face catches people's eyes.

4. Lips

Any man will be drawn to a woman with lips desirable to kiss. What do "kissable lips" mean? Despite the tendency of using different methods to make lips bigger among women, the survey has shown that men prefer thin to medium-sized lips. Don't forget about lipstick. It was invented for a reason! A study from the Manchester University found out that men can stare at women with red lips for seven seconds!

5. Eyes

Men prefer to look at large eyes and there is a reason! When a person is falling in love with a person he is looking at, his eyes unconsciously dilate and become larger. That's why a person with larger eyes seems happier and more appealing.

6. Eyebrows

Eyebrows are clearly an important feature in our appearance. They help express our feelings and emotions. Well-shaped eyebrows can make you look gorgeous. They make men feel lost in your eyes. It was also found that people notice eyebrows more often than eyes. So don't neglect your eyebrows while doing your makeup.

7. Posture

Your posture can say a lot about you. Usually, people with poor posture have socializing problems. They are shy and not open to new acquaintances. People with good body posture tend to be more confident and attractive. Your posture influences the first impression you make. Change your posture to change the way people think about you.

8. Color

The color of clothing can affect your attractiveness a lot. It was found that the color red is the most attractive to men because it's associated with love and passion. Don't throw away your little black dress! Wearing black can let a man know that you're an intelligent and confident woman. All women desire to be beautiful, desired, beautiful, and to catch the attention of men. But let's face it – most women don't have all these traits of a theoretically ideal attractive person. Don't be keen on stereotypes, monitor your health, and use little tricks like red lipstick to stand out of the crowd. Tell us which traits you find attractive in the opposite s-x.

9. Legs/ Height

According to a survey, highly attractive women are mostly 2-4 inches taller than average height. About 46% of men said they preferred women whose height ranges between 5’3 and 5’6. But irrespective of this, men have equally voted for taller and shorter women, because in the end, it all goes to the charm and posture they carry as they walk. It is definitely a trait that men are physically attracted to.

10. Long, Luscious & Thick Hair :

Thick hair, again, is associated with good health and youth. Men are attracted to women with long, thick, and healthy hair, which is also a turn on! When a man spots a woman with luscious locks, he immediately associates it with s-x appeal and feminity. Healthy hair and thick eyelashes and brows indicate that a woman is healthy and youthful.

11. Less Makeup.

You may think that contouring, layers of eye shadow, and bold lips are making you more beautiful, but it turns out, the natural look is more appealing to men. The video says that men prefer women who use up to 40% fewer cosmetics. But it shouldn't take science to tell you that the natural you, is the best you.

12. Wearing Red.

There's a reason red is associated with lust. Scientists have proven that wearing red enhances attraction. In fact, they've found this phenomenon to hold true in other animals as well. Note to self: dry clean red dress for Saturday date night.

13. Dark Strands.

Gentlemen don't, it turns out, prefer blondes, according to a 2008 survey of 130 men (and 112 women) published in the Scandinavian Journal of Psychology. "Contrary to expectations … brunettes were rated more positively than blondes," the researchers write. Hair length, on the other hand, "had only a weak effect on ratings of attractiveness."

14. Big Bo-obs.

Hope you're sitting down: Believe it or not, men like big bo-obs. But especially in combination with a narrow waist, which, the researchers note, several previous studies had already established. In more news that will surprise no one, studies that tracked eye movement showed that when looking at images of women, men first checked out their br-easts and waists. "Men also looked for longer but attractiveness scores were more likely to be based on waist scores alone than the br-east scores," they write.

15. Overall Grooming.

In a 1997 study published in the journal Current Psychology, changeable features like how people groom themselves and posture were shown to be just as important as fixed features like height. The reason: Evidence of self-care signals to others that you're healthy and strong (and thus, a good reproductive partner).

This is how people reacted to this post:

Tatia Aptsiauri - Yeah cause women only wake up every day just to impress men

Keshika Naidoo - This article is both pointless and baseless. We should just embrace who we are and stop trying to fit into society's ideas of what we should look like, in order to attract a man. Besides, what about good ol fashioned intelligence and personality.

Jhoi Enriquez Colas Palomo - Oa… pity those who are least fortunate faces and bods ani… haha gwapa pod ba kaha nagpost ani bwhaha leche… panguyab og jatot pata perfect in features bwehehe

Dahlia Mansour - So men are superficial. They care more about what looks good to them on the outside instead of actually learning about the person on the inside. Wow ! Sorry guys apparently you’re not as smart as women. Women look for educated men, personality, self supporting, loving , kind, genuine etc…. looks are just a bonus because in reality, looks will go away as you age but what’s on the inside is what counts…

Yqasha Ohana - Urm I have messy eyebrows, big lips, facial symmetry.. seriously? Lol and I don't smile. It's ok, I'm fine. I don't need a man

Britney Wood - If my man doesn’t find me attractive, even after bringing a baby(his baby) into this world, then obviously I chose the wrong man. Thats the problem with women nowadays, we worry too much about what men think about us.
